Diny Rahimtoola is the featured artist for May and here is her Artist Statement:

I came to painting late in life. Growing up in the Netherlands, I always had this feeling that I would like to paint.  However, life got in the way and I came to the US, got married and raised 3 boys.

A few years ago I realized that if I still wanted to paint, now would be a good time to try this.  Once I started, there was no stopping me.  From the first time I picked up a brush I was hooked and I knew that I was meant to do this.  I don’t know what medium I like better and so I am still in discovery mode.  My favorite medium is oil.  Having said that I also love acrylic and for good measure there are times that I love watercolor.  Just the process of creating gives me great pleasure and satisfaction.  The same goes for portrait vs. landscape vs. impressionistic; it is all a feast.

Having travelled all over the world, I realize that I have had a great opportunity to soak up different experiences and cultures and that I have been storing this all up, “pictures” for future use.  Well, the time is now and believe me, I am enjoying every minute of it.
